We choose to participate in #GivingTuesday this year for two reasons.
First, to generate more awareness about our volunteer run non-profit and the impact Team Asa has had in our community.
Second, to raise additional funds for recreational and social activities for individuals with differentabilities.
Our financial goal was to raise $500. Did I mention Facebook would be matching a total of $7 million dollars in donations? Well, every little bit helps, and we’re not ones to turn down free money. 😊
As you (hopefully) know, Team Asa is a volunteer run 501(c)3 organization that helps enable individuals with developmental and physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in recreational and social activities that foster a sense of self, a sense of team and extended family. We provide financial scholarships to individuals, assist schools, and support programs that provide opportunities for the special needs community.
We hold one really cool fundraiser every January – the Polar Bear Plunge and Pre-Plunge Party. Team Asa is fortunate to have some really great friends that donate everything to make these zero-cost events. That means, EVERY DOLLAR RAISED – Polar Bear Plunge registration, raffle ticket, silent auction bid, donation, etc. goes directly to work in our community ensuring amazing individuals have the chance to participate in social and recreational activities.
The outpouring of support on Giving Tuesday was tremendous! We raised $1,425. We thank you for your support. We’ve got some really awesome plans for 2020. Here’s to creating more #BestDayEverDays!
