The Polar Bear Plunge at The Lakes – 13th Anniversary returns to The Lakes of Tempe on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Registration opens at 8 a.m. and we’ll be taking the plunge at 9 a.m.! Brave Polar Bears will plunge into the cool pool while Teddy Bears stay dry and cheer them on!

Advance registration fee is $25 for either Bear and includes a cool long-sleeve t-shirt, hot beverages, yummy snacks and the warm fuzzies that come from giving back.  You can register online at LakesPolarPlunge.com, via the mail or at the Pre-Plunge Party and Silent Auction on Friday, Jan. 10 from 4:30 – 7 p.m. at Spokes on Southern. Stop by to pick up your t-shirts, register and bid for some super awesome silent auction items!

Team Asa is a volunteer run 501 (c) 3 organization that helps to enable individuals with differentabilities the opportunity to participate in recreational and social activities that foster a sense of self, a sense of team and extended family. Since the inaugural plunge in 2012, we have raised more than $110,000.

We provide financial scholarships to individuals, so they can participate in activities like Buddy Bowling, adaptive skateboarding, summer camps, after school programs, dances and more. Team Asa assists local school teachers and classrooms. Additionally, we support programs that provide opportunities to the special needs community like City of Tempe Adaptive Recreation, Tempe Special Olympics, The Centers for Habilitation, The ARC of Tempe and others.

With the community’s generous support of the Polar Bear Plunge, last year we were able to donate adaptive playground equipment to the City of Tempe’s Clark Park renovation so that people of all ages and abilities are able to play.
